Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology provides training in all aspects of ediatric anesthesia at both the resident and fellow level. The operating room suite at Childrens Hospital of New York (formerly Babies and Childrens Hospital) currently has eight operating rooms. All surgical specialties are represented. The children served have both primary care and tertiary care surgical problems. Our Division is the only full time pediatric anesthesia service in the metropolitan area. The cardiac surgical program is the largest program in New York. A very active neonatal intensive care unit receives neonates with surgical conditions from the tri-state area. Approximately 7000 pediatric procedures are performed each year. In addition to cases in the operating rooms, there are one to three sites outside the operating room where our division provides anesthesia services each day. These sites include the MRI suite, neurointerventional radiology, radiation therapy, interventional radiology and cardiac catheterization laboratory. We also run an Acute Pain Pediatric Service, and a small chronic pain clinic.
