STATEMENT OF CHARGE TO COMMITTEE:
1. Establish and review the procedures for resuscitating patients who have sustained cardiac and/or respiratory arrests.
2. Determine the membership of the teams responding to adult, obstetric, pediatric and other emergencies. Review the procedures for notifying members.
3. Develop guidelines to ensure that staff members who are involved in resuscitation receive training in the latest techniques. Monitors that such training is performed.
4. Recommend to the Standardization Committee the equipment and supplies needed for resuscitation and to the Pharmacy Committee the drugs required.
5. Monitor and review the response, conduct and outcome of resuscitation attempts. Recommendations for improvement should result from such reviews. The committee's findings are to be reported quarterly to the Nursing Quality Assurance Committee and the Medical Care Evaluation/Quality Assurance Committee and annually to the Hospital- Wide Quality Assurance Committee.
6. Voting members of this committee shall include: Representatives from the Anesthesiology, Emergency, Nursing, Medical, Pediatric, Surgical and Respiratory Care Services. Representatives from Telecommunications, Security, Risk Management, Quality Assurance and Pharmacy, Chief Residents from the Medical and Pediatric Services and others deemed appropriate by the Co-chairpersons (one medical and one nursing).
7. Meets quarterly.
8. Reports annually to the Medical Board.
