DIAGNOSTIC LABORATORIES COMMITTEE


Approved by Executive Committee of Medical Board as a Standing Committee on October 4, 1949.

STATEMENT OF CHARGE TO COMMITTEE:

1. To develop, exchange and evaluate information about new and changing clinical diagnostic laboratory tests and procedures.

2. To correlate the spectrum of laboratory tests with the needs for these services in the care of patients.

3. To facilitate efficient organization of clinical laboratory work with a goal of high-quality testing at reasonable cost.

4. To make recommendations to the Medical Board for actions appropriate to the Committee's conclusions.

5. Voting members of this committee shall include: The Directors of Clinical Laboratories, Laboratory Information Services and the Blood Bank, representatives from Ancillary Services Administration, Nursing, physicians from the various clinical services and others as deemed appropriate by the Chairperson.

6. Meets bimonthly.

7. Reports annually to Medical Board.
