EMERGENCY (DISASTER) COMMITTEE


Approved by Medical Board as a Standing Committee on December 18, 1956. The Disaster Unit had become the Emergency Committee September 19, 1950 and was renamed Emergency Disaster Committee July 11, 1957.

STATEMENT OF CHARGE TO COMMITTEE:

1. The Emergency Committee of the Medical Board should have the responsibility of developing, updating and maintaining the plans for and the procedures to be followed by Administration, Professional Staff and Personnel in handling mass casualties that the Medical Center may be called upon to care for in the event of an internal or external disaster.

2. The Committee is responsible for the preparation of a suitable manual detailing the procedures to be followed for each member of the Administration, Professional Staff and Personnel of the Medical Center. The Committee is responsible for the development, updating and maintaining of the plans and procedures for the conduct of the Administration, Professional Staff and Personnel of the Medical Center in the event of an internal disaster. The Committee is responsible for coordinating such drills of its disaster plans as it deems necessary, but not less than twice per year.

3. Voting members of this committee shall include: Representatives from Medical Affairs Administration, Ambulatory Services, Dean's Office, physician from the various clinical services and others as deemed appropriate by the Chairperson.

4. Meets quarterly.

5. Reports annually to Medical Board.
