EMERGENCY SERVICES POLICY COMMITTEE


Approved as Standing Committee of Medical Board with expanded membership and name changed to Emergency Services Policy Committee on April 18, 1979, by Executive Committee of Medical Board (formerly Ad Hoc Emergency Room Policy Committee).

STATEMENT OF CHARGE TO COMMITTEE:

1. Improve coordination of patient care in Emergency Services;

2. Develop new systems for delivery of patient care;

3. Define the organizational structure of Professional Staff for the Emergency Services;

4. Participate in the planning for Emergency Services;

5. Responsible for the Quality Assurance activities of Emergency Services (including Psychiatric Emergency Room, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Rapid Evaluation Unit, Area A, Area B).

6. Voting members of this committee shall include: The Director for Emergency Services, the Director of Emergency Psychiatry Services, representatives from Medical Affairs Administration, Nursing, physicians from the various clinical services functioning in Emergency Services and others as deemed appropriate by the Chairperson.

7. Meets bimonthly.

8. Reports quarterly to Executive Committee of Medical Board.

9. Reports annually to Medical Board.
