HOUSE STAFF COMMITTEE


Approved by Executive Committee of Medical Board as a Standing Committee on April 5, 1972. Revised January 5, 1994.

STATEMENT OF CHARGE TO COMMITTEE:

1. To serve as the standing nominating committee to nominate members from the House Staff for the 1 regular and 1 alternate position on the Medical Board.

2. To serve as an intermediate forum for discussion between the two representatives of the House Staff on the Medical Board and the House Staff as a whole through their departmental representatives.

3. To serve as an intermediate forum for discussion between the House Staff and Medical Board, Directors of Service, and the Hospital Administration.

4. Voting members of this committee shall include: Representatives from Medical Affairs Administration, a Chief Resident from each Service and others as deemed appropriate by the Chairperson.

5. Meets monthly.

6. Reports monthly to Medical Board.

INSTITUTIONAL REVIEW BOARD OF THE COLUMBIA PRESBYTERIAN

MEDICAL CENTER

Formerly, this was a committee of the University but made a Standing Committee of Medical Board and Joint Committee of University and Hospital on October 3, 1978.

STATEMENT OF CHARGE TO COMMITTEE:

1. Required by the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 45, Part 46 Protection of Human Subjects.

2. Review, approve and conduct continuing review of all biomedical research pertaining to human subjects. The review assures that:

a. Risks to subjects are minimized.

b. Risks to subjects are reasonable in relation to anticipated benefits.

c. Selection of subjects is equitable.

d. Informed consent is obtained from each subject or legally authorized representative.

e. There are provisions to protect the privacy of subjects and maintain confidentiality of data.

3. Voting members of this committee shall include: Representatives from Nursing, Pastoral Care, physicians from the various clinical services and others as deemed appropriate by the Chairperson.

4. Meets bimonthly.

5. Reports annually to Medical Board.
