Presbyterian Hospital Committees, 1994

COMMITTEE ON MEDICAL STAFF HEALTH

Established as a Standing Committee of the Medical Board on August 13, 1989.

STATEMENT OF CHARGE TO COMMITTEE:

1. The Committee on Medical Staff Health shall:

a. be available for consultation with respect to the implementation of the Hospital's Policy for the Management of the Impaired Physician and Dentist.

b. be available for consultation with respect to the establishment of the Hospital's education program, and other preventive programs, relating to impaired and troubled medical staff members and the monitoring of the effectiveness of such programs.

c. otherwise recommend means of encouraging medical staff members suffering impairments due to alcohol or drug use to receive appropriate treatment.

2. Committee members shall be appointed by the Medical Board. The Executive Vice President for Medical Affairs of the Hospital, or a designee, shall be an ex officio member of the Committee.

3. The Committee shall meet periodically.

4. The Committee shall report at least annually to the Medical Board.
