OPERATING ROOM AND ANESTHESIA COMMITTEE

Approved by Executive Committee of Medical Board as a Standing Committee on September 6, 1949. Committee was restructured by the Executive Committee of the Medical Board on December 19, 1990.

STATEMENT OF CHARGE TO COMMITTEE:

1. The Committee shall address issues and policy decisions concerning inpatient and outpatient surgical care. The task of focusing on pertinent issues shall be undertaken by Directors of the following surgical services:

     - Anesthesiology
     - Dental and Oral Surgery
     - General Surgery
     - Neurological Surgery
     - Obstetrics and Gynecology
     - Ophthalmology
     - Orthopedic Surgery
     - Otolaryngology
     - Urology

     Also included:
     - Director, Operating Rooms
     - Chief Operating Officer
     There shall be no substitutions for the above membership.

2.   A system of ad hoc subcommittees will be incorporated and will report
     directly to the Operating Room and Anesthesia Committee.  These
     subcommittees shall consist of key personnel from:
     - Administration/Admitting
     - Ambulatory Care Services
     - Allen Pavilion
     - Babies Hospital
     - Eye Institute

3.   Meets monthly.

4.   Reports annually to Medical Board.
