STANDARDIZATION COMMITTEE

Approved by Executive Committee of Medical Board as a Standing Committee on October 4, 1949.

STATEMENT OF CHARGE TO COMMITTEE:

1. Studies, reviews and makes recommendations regarding the standardization of professional procedures and equipment through the Hospital.

2. Sets and maintains standards which equipment must meet.

3. In carrying out these duties, the committee is responsible for recommending procedures and equipment which will provide greatest possible economy of operation consistent with high standards of performance.

4. Reviews material submitted by all members of the professional staff and employs a Research and Development Supervisor who examines new equipment, reviews the literature submitted with it and also the procedures at other institutions for recommendation to the Committee and, if mandated by them, sets up applicable experimental trial programs.

5. Voting members of this committee shall include: Representatives from Medical Affairs Administration, Nursing, Pharmacy, Purchasing, physicians from the various clinical services, the Chief Residents from Medicine, Neurology, Obs/Gyn, Pediatrics, Surgery and others as deemed appropriate by the chairperson.

6. Meets monthly.

7. Reports annually to Medical Board.
