Welcome
At the Wound Healing Center of New-York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center (NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia), we treat you as a whole person to help you heal. Our multidisciplinary approach takes into account the complex nature of chronic wounds. We call upon the expertise of dermatologists, nephrologists (kidney specialists), vascular surgeons, cardiologists, general surgeons, nutritionists, podiatrists, neurologists, diabetologists, and radiologists, as needed. Through individualized treatment plans, we strive to improve the quality of care for every patient, including the disabled, elderly, and those with diabetes.
Our fundamental mission is to heal chronic wounds.
With proper care, we expect all wounds to heal. Healing is defined as complete closure of the wound without drainage. Drainage, redness and odor are absolutely abnormal.
If any of these occur, please call the Columbia Wound Healing Center at 212.932.4325.
We recognize that clear and effective communication among you, the Wound Healing Center, and your primary doctor is central to your recovery. We will keep your primary doctor fully informed about your treatment plan.
We encourage you to be an active participant in your care. Do not be shy. Ask questions regarding your care. Know your medications, their dosage, and why you are taking them. We hope this website will provide you with some of the information you need to care for and heal your wound.
