The Department of Biochemistry is seeking a research worker to investigate the role of cytokines in inflammation and other pathological states in cells, tissues and animals. The incumbent will work with postdocs to identify the molecular pathways by which cytokines regulate gene activities and cellular responses in the immune system. Specific duties will include performing PCR and recombinant DNA methods, including Southern blots, Western blots, plasmid preparations and cloning, as well as tissue culture and use of antibodies; maintaining a mouse colony; research literature; analyzing data as required; assist with daily organization of the laboratory, including maintenance of supplies and perform related duties as assigned.

Research Worker,
Bachelor's degree plus at least one year's related experience or Master's degree plus at least three years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience. Knowledge of genetics and experience in performing PCR and recombinant DNA methods and experience performing experiments with animal cells on immunological questions. Ability to work independently and design experiments with proper controls. Excellent organizational, communications, interpersonal and problem solving skills required.
