After a brief discussion about potatoes, in which a few representatives demonstrated remarkable restraint, the subject turned to more serious matters. Dean Feigelson said that he wanted to write a short article for the Vector, rebutting a previous news item. The Dean's article will be in the Autumnal issue (our next regularly-scheduled issue), and he has been invited to submit it for inclusion in the GSO Home Page. At the Vector Editorial Office, the staff was not at all surprised by the request, as they are constantly flooded by the email and letters from avid readers responding to articles.
Next, the GSAC talked at length about the new Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Health Sciences home page on the World Wide Web. The GSO Computer Staff has linked its own WWW page to the GSAS page, and the Dean's office will reciprocate as soon as they get around to it.
The final item at the meeting was a suggestion by Dean Feigelson about establishing a Professor of the Year award. Various suggestions were made about how such an award would be given, how the winner would be chosen, and what, exactly, the award would accomplish. The Dean will take it up with the faculty at their next meeting, but the students still seem undecided.
