HIV-1 Replication and Pathogenesis

 Projects include studies on:

  • The structural requirements for virion assembly and RNA packaging
  • The role of cellular chaperone proteins in virion assembly and infectivity
  • Interactions between viral proteins and the cytoskeleton
  • Mechanisms and consequences of Vpr-associated G2 cell cycle arrest
  • Mechanisms by which HIV-1 avoids immune surveillance
