Columbia Neuroscience

A tradition of creativity and scientific excellence has secured Columbia's place at the forefront of neuroscience research and clinical care. Building on this foundation, more than 250 faculty members from the two Columbia campuses are working together in the next phase of neuroscience development. Expansion efforts include several recent recruitments, with more planned in the area of neural circuitry, enhancing an already exceptional faculty.

A proposal is underway to create a Department of Neuroscience. And with the recent announcement of the largest single gift in university history, we are planning the construction of a state-of-the-art science center dedicated to a broad vision of neuroscience. This center will house the Mind, Brain and Behavior Initiative: an effort to integrate disciplines in neuroscience, humanities and social sciences. To coordinate these activities, a Center for Neuroscience Initiatives has been established, which will foster collaboration and communication across many disciplines throughout the University, and will facilitate interactions between basic scientists, clinical researchers and trainees.
