Admission to the University Statutory Certificate Program

The University Statutory Certificate Program allows nurses with master's degrees to acquire an additional area of clinical expertise without completing another entire master's program. From 26 to 36 credits are required, depending on the speciality.

Faculty review applications on a rolling admission basis so that students may apply throughout the year. The Nurse Anesthesia University Statutory Certificate program application deadline is November 1st and the program begins the following September.

Admission Requirements:

  • Current New York State nursing license or eligibility
  • Master's degree in nursing from an NLN or CCNE accredited program
  • Minimum of one year clinical experience
  • Satisfactory scores on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE)
  • Personal interview with program director
  • Three references attesting to applicant's academic ability and potential
  • Personal goal statement that is congruent with program goals (two pages, double-spaced, 12 pt font)
  • Resume or CV

Students must secure a site and preceptor for primary care student practice that is acceptable to the program director.
