2. CUSON Grants Fund Pilot Projects
The School of Nursing ’s “Center for Evidence-based Practice in the Underserved” (PI: Dr. Suzanne Bakken) funded 3 new pilot projects for its sixth year:
- “Feasibility of the CAT EKG Monitoring System in Elderly Hispanics at Risk for AF” PI: Dr. Kathleen T. Hickey (Assistant Professor of Nursing)
- “Develop Network Analysis Report Templates for Use in Local Public Health” PI: Dr. Jacqueline Merrill (Associate Research Scientist, Department of Biomedical Informatics)
- “Developing Parenting Competence: Adaptation to Diabetes in Young Children” PI: Dr. Arlene Smaldone (Assistant Professor of Nursing)
The School of Nursing ’s “Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Antimicrobial Resistance” (PI: Dr. Elaine Larson) funded 5 new pilot projects during its second year:
- “Antibiotic Resistance Determinants in Oral Bacteria” PI: Dr. Seok-Woo Lee (Associate Professor, Division of Periodontics, College of Dental Medicine, Columbia University )
- “Specification of Competencies Necessary for Effective Interdisciplinary Research” PI: Dr. Kristine Gebbie
- “Computer-Mediated HIV Adherence Counseling” Co-PIs: Dr. Suzanne Bakken and Dr. Rita Kukafka (Assistant Professor of Public Health [Sociomedical Sciences] and Biomedical Informatics, Columbia University)
- “Identifying Risk Factors for MRSA Infection within the Prison Population: The Staph Infection in Prisons Pilot Study (SIPPS)” Co-PIs: Dr. Elaine Larson and Dr. Frank Lowy (Professor of Medicine and Pathology, Division of Infectious Diseases, College of Physicians & Surgeons of Columbia University)
