6. Changes in Columbia University Research Administration

• CUSON has been assigned to a new Project Officer, Victor Cabrera. Victor will be CUSON’s contact and signing official for grants and contracts that are submitted. Contact Kristine Kulage for additional information.

•The Grants & Contracts office has been undergoing restructuring:

•“Grants & Contracts” is now renamed, “Research Administration (RA).” Jane Tsambis, former Associate Vice President of RA has left Columbia . In the interim, Joanne Berdebes, Associate Director for Pre-Award Operations, and Carol Tycko, Associate Director for Post-Award Finance, are administrative contacts for pre-and post-award concerns. RA has also has a newly designed web page.

•All Columbia departments, including the School of Nursing, are assigned to a pre-award project officer (Victor Cabrera) and a post-award financial analyst (Erin Li) for assistance with research grants and contracts.

• Beginning July 1, 2006, RA will begin using a new internal submission process for electronic grants going to the NIH via grants.gov called InfoEd. Training on InfoEd will be available as part of the scheduled fall 2006 ORR CE Course (see newsletter item #9). Future InfoEd training sessions tailored to researchers and principal investigators will also be offered by RA in the fall.
