Drs. Arlene Smaldone, Mary Byrne, and Judy Honig collaborated on a project
using a large national data set to explore the needs of New York State children
with special health care needs. The collaboration resulted in an article, “Delayed
and Forgone Care for Children with Special Health Care Needs in New York
State ,” which was selected via competitive review from papers submitted
nationally for a special edition of Maternal and Child Health Journal.
Dr. Smaldone, who graduated from the CUSON DNSc program in 2003, is first
author on the article and recently joined CUSON as a faculty member. The
article was subsequently selected from the published papers for a small group
presented in webcast on MCHCOM.COM, the Maternal and Child Health Bureau’s
forum for communicating with State Title V Maternal and Child Health and
Children with Special Health Care Needs Directors.
