Allergy and Immunology

The Allergy and Immunology Division has an active outpatient and inpatient consultation service responsible for a wide range of allergic diseases and primary immunodeficiencies. To accommodate our patients we have 7 different offices in the New York area. Our division has clinics daily to evaluate and treat the enormous patient population we service. Since we care for adult patients also, we have the luxury of treating all family members with allergies.

The patients referred to our division are usually more complex and have multiple allergic diseases. We care for patients with asthma, rhinitis, atopic dermatitis, drug reactions, anaphylaxis, latex allergies, semen allergies, food hypersensitivities, hives, insect sting reactions, and contact dermatitis. We also treat patients with less common immunologic diseases such as Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis, Hereditary Angioneurotic edema and primary immunodeficiencies.

Our division performs various allergy testing including skin prick testing, intradermal testing, food testing and patch testing. We also perform blinded food and drug challenges when appropriate, on the more complicated clinical presentations. We routinely perform spirometry and rhinoscopy.

We have medical students, residents and fellows participating in both the inpatient and outpatient service.

All our attendings deal with all allergic diseases but Dr David Resnick has a particular interest in semen allergies, hereditary angioneurotic edema and asthma. Dr. B.Robert Feldman is our expert on hives and angioedema. Dr. Mervat Nassef has an interest in rhinoscopy and evaluating chronic rhinitis and sinusitis. Dr. Karin Peterson is in charge of our immunodeficiency patients and is an expert on food allergies.

Patient can be referred to our service by calling our hospital office at (212) 305-2300.
