The division has a training program in Infectious Diseases funded by the National Institutes of Health.
This three year program focuses on applicants interested in the subspecialty of Pediatric Infectious Diseases who plan academic careers. It is an interdisciplinary program involving investigators-mentors in the Department of Pediatrics, as well as in the Department of Microbiology, Anatomy, and Cell Biology, Epidemiology and Public Health, Physiology, Immunology, Molecular Biophysics, and Nursing.
Approximately 80% of each fellow’s time is devoted to research. There are extensive resources at Columbia University that are available to postdoctoral fellows, including seminars given by outstanding speakers, and teaching and mentoring from an experienced group of well-funded Pediatricians trained in the discipline of Infectious Diseases. These core clinician-scientists have collaborated with distinguished basic scientists at Columbia and investigators at other universities. Please see “Research Activities” for a more detailed description of the faculty’s interests.
Research opportunities for medical students, graduate students, and housestaff officers are also available.
Interested fellows can obtain a masters degree in public health, biostatistics, or epidemiology.
