The Sarah E. Nash Children's Lung Center and Sue and John L. Weinberg Cystic Fibrosis Center, together, is a tertiary center for the full range of acute and chronic respiratory diseases in infants, children, and adolescents. Specialists have expertise in the treatment of asthma, cystic fibrosis, lung injury, recurrent pneumonia and disorders of respiratory control. The center is actively engaged in clinical trials evaluating new therapies for lung disease. The center performs flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy, often with bronchoalveolar lavage, to sample the cells in the lung. The pulmonary function laboratories are especially geared toward children and the exercise physiology laboratory is one of the few in the Northeast capable of non-invasive measurement of heart and lung function during exercise.

The Cystic Fibrosis Center at Columbia University provides clinical care for children and adults with Cystic Fibrosis. The CF Center is accredited by the CF Foundation and has a long history of providing care to CF patients. There is also an approved adult care program for adult patients with CF. There is a multidisciplinary team that includes both pediatric and adult pulmonary specialists, clinical nurse specialists, social workers, nutritionists, geneticists, and physical therapists. The CF Center is involved in clinical care, research and the development of new therapies. The Center provides sweat testing, evaluation of pulmonary and intestinal complications, pulmonary function testing on infants, children and adults, home therapy support, education and support from specialists who are knowledgeable about the complications of CF.

Our physicians see outpatients in the new Children's Lung Center at the Children's Hospital of New York, on the Columbia campus of the New York Presbyterian Hospital in upper Manhattan, five minutes from the George Washington Bridge. We also make outreach office visits in Mt. Kisco, NY; Nyack, NY; and Teaneck NJ. Limited pulmonary function testing is also available in each of those offices for children over age 5. We are also available for consultation on children admitted to Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt. Kisco, NY; Nyack Hospital, Nyack NY; and Holy Name Hospital, Teaneck NJ. Our physicians have been listed in the New York Magazine article on "Best Doctors in New York" and in the books "Best Doctors in the Metropolitan area" and "Best Doctors in America."
