Lynne Quittell, MD
The Cystic Fibrosis Center under the direction of Dr. Lynne Quittell regularly participates in clinical trials for the development of new therapies. Trials that are presently underway include:
- The safety and efficacy of TOBI in children with mild lung disease
- The safety and efficacy of once a day intravenous tobramycin v. three times a day for pulmonary exacerbations.
- The use of macrolides in the treatment of CF.
- Epidemiologic Study of Cystic Fibrosis (ESCF)
We are regularly evaluating potential studies that would benefit our CF patients and the CF community as a whole. For information on any of these studies or upcoming studies, please call the CF Center at 212-305-5122.
Beverley Sheares, MD
Dr. Sheares has major interest in optimizing care for children with asthma. Her work involves the optimal way to instruct the patient and family in asthma management. She spearheads a program to ensure that children admitted to hospital with severe or chronic asthma are given the wherewithal to self manage and avoid subsequent admissions.
David Evans, PhD
Dr. Evans is the leader of our Asthma Education Program, working on several projects to ensure adequate care of children with asthma. This includes a project helping teenagers to monitor and self treat their own asthma. He works hand in hand with Dr. Sheares, and they have relations with faculty in the School of Public Health with similar interests.
