The Environmental Resource Center or Ecology Center, dating back over 20 years, is the hub of much of the environmental action and science education at I.S. 318. In 1991 Karen Mendes and Roy Arezzo began refurbishing the facility. It has since endured many changes in staff and programs. It hosts environmental and science lessons for students at I.S. 318 and visiting schools. It is used as a site for science staff development and adult workshops. The Ecology Center also serves as ground zero for Project Roots, the Compost Program, the AM Research Program, Trout in the Classroom and various environmental clubs. We could not sustain our programs without funding, support and resources from outside agencies. To see the list of organizations with whom we proudly collaborate, click here.
