The Council on the Environment (CENYC), the Parks Council, Open Road and the Magnolia Tree Earth Center were involved in mapping community gardens and other open spaces, vacant lots and community resources to create a tool to be used to assist in community garden preservation and neighborhood open space planning.

We have preliminary maps that are being verified to make sure they accurately reflect the actual conditions on a street.

Teams of high school students, community gardeners, open space advocates and Americorps volunteers are in the process of checking the maps for accuracy by measuring, taking field notes and photographs.
