YES! Urge them on.
The consistent, low temp is a great sign...and obviously why they are taking their old sweet time. Everyone else is struggling with the temperature, and they're hatching.

I guess Joan rubbed hard enough on her lantern - there is much to do and the IS 318 eggs were running the risk of being tardy. After an email exchange late last night regarding the status of the eggs I arrived bright and early at IS 318 today, 10/27/98, to the sound of excited children over the hatching of 6 brown trout fry. They are difficult to make out against the brown background of the tank (something they obviously prefer) and the are not yet very active in the chilly Brooklyn water (49.3 F) but they seem alive and well.

Interestingly enough Christian Diaz, our resident 8th grade TV star and the first to handle the eggs, was the first to ID the fry at 8:25 AM. Great observation!
Latoya Burden, Yu Chen and Vasily Bukarin were all present for the blessed event.

We are potentially planning an insect gathering party on the Beaverkill on NOV 7th.

More details to come.

Yours truly,

Eco-crew at IS 318
