We frequently are reminded of the power of collaboration through everyday sayings. "No man is an island." "It takes a village." "Many hands make light work." That conventional wisdom has been a part of the College of Physicians & Surgeons since its founding in 1767. World-renowned researchers, award-winning instructors, compassionate clinicians, and leaders in American health care make P&S one of the greatest medical schools in the world, not to mention the first choice for many medical school applicants. Yet without the collaborative support of the individuals, foundations, and institutions who show a generous interest in P&S, we would find it hard in these days of limited resources to rise to our highest potential.

The year past has been a model example of great things achieved through partnerships. Building on a foundation of united efforts enables P&S to make breakthroughs in medical research and clinical care while educating compassionate and qualified clinicians. Although our collaborations are numerous, we present here a few models that are representative of the whole. It is through these model collaborations that we continue to meet our goals so that we can ensure a healthy future for this institution, the professional lives of our graduates, and scientific understanding
