Department
of Biostatistics
Cancer Training Grant

The Department of Biostatistics participates in an NCI-funded training grant in Cancer Biostatistics, Environmental Science and Epidemiology, directed by Dr. Al Neugut of the Department of Epidemiology. The grant has supported several Biostatistics trainees over the years. Fellows receive a stipend, partial tuition support, and travel funds. They are required to take courses in the disciplines covered by the grant and to participate in the program's weekly meetings.
The program is open to both pre-doctoral and post-doctoral trainees. Pre-doctoral fellows are typically students in the Department's PhD or DrPH programs who are interested in cancer biostatistics. Post-doctoral fellows may be MDs or PhDs from other areas of science who wish to acquire more training in cancer biostatistics, or holders of a doctoral degree in statistics or a related area who wish to develop a research specialization in cancer.

Only US citizens and permanent residents are eligible for this program.

If you wish to be considered for a pre-doctoral fellowship and are not already enrolled in one of the eligible doctoral programs at Columbia, you should apply to the appropriate program and simultaneously submit a CV, letters of reference and a cover letter to the program coordinator expressing your interest in the training grant. If you are already enrolled in one of the eligible doctoral programs, or wish to be considered for a post-doctoral fellowship, please contact the coordinator directly:
