Mailman Post-Graduate Career Options
- A Biostatistics graduate might pursue opportunities as a data manager with one of the many biotech firms in the Cambridge/Boston area or an academic medical center in the tri-state area or as a research bisotatistician or statistical programmer in the pharmaceutical industry.
- An Environmental Health Sciences alumna might accept a position as a policy analyst with the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, DC or NYC, as a research scientist with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene or as a scientific/regulatory consultant with a NJ-based scientific consulting firm.
- An Epidemiology alumnus might follow his dream of a career in surveillance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta or the San Francisco, California Department of Public Health, a career in research with Pfizer or a post-graduate research fellowship with NIH in Maryland.
- A Health Policy and Management graduate might pursue opportunities in health care administration with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, health policy analysis with a state agency in Hartford, Connecticut or health care consulting with a NYC- based consulting firm.
- A Population and Family Health graduate might be recruited for a position as a project officer with the International Center for AIDS Care and Treatment Programs in NYC, accept a position as a project manager at a major academic medical center in San Francisco or pursue an opportunity in program development, monitoring and evaluation with an NGO in India.
- A Sociomedical Sciences alumna might consult on the development and delivery of a public service campaign for a domestic advocacy organization in Chicago, Illinois or accept a Fulbright Fellowship to support her work at the Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) in Capetown, SA or create policy at the NYC Department of Aging.
Employment Demographics
Of those 2007 Mailman graduates who responded to a post-graduation survey, 31% are with public health agencies, 32% with academic and research institutions, 17% with other not-for-profit organizations (including NGO's and PVO's), 10% with consulting firms, 7% with pharmaceutical companies and 3% with other for profit organizations (including managed care).

63% of the 2007 Mailman graduates who responded to the post-graduation survey are employed in Manhattan and the boroughs, 6% in New York State, 23% in Other States and 8% Internationally.

17% of the Mailman graduates responding to the post-graduation survey indicated a salary range of $30-45,000; 35%, $46-60,000; 14%, $61-75,000; 13%, $76,000 - 100,000; and 21%, $101,000 and above. Included in the $76,000 and above groupings are graduates with medical or other advanced degrees and/or significant prior work experience.
