Courses of Study
The MPH degree in Health Policy and Management offers comprehensive studies in the fields of health care policy, management, and effectiveness and outcomes research. The MPH is a 45 point program that includes core courses, departmental requirements, and elective courses. The degree is offered in three formats:

General Public Health Program
The Department of Health Policy and Management is home to the Program in General Public Health. Only persons with prior professional health training and at least two years of experience in health care should consider this program.

The Practicum
The practicum experience is a highlight of the academic program in Health Policy and Management and General Public Health for full-time students. The practicum experience provides students with the opportunity to integrate and apply knowledge gained in the classroom and to obtain the practical skills necessary for careers in health care.

Dual Degree Programs
Students in the Department of Health Policy and Management and the Program in General Public Health have the unique opportunity to pursue a dual degree at the Master's level in cooperation with other Columbia University Schools. Dual degree programs take advantage of overlapping content between public health and related fields to reduce the time needed to complete the degrees.
