Joseph Graziano Selected for NIEHS Council

Joseph Graziano, PhD, associate dean for Research and professor of Environmental Health Sciences and Pharmacology, has been appointed to the National Advisory Environmental Health Sciences Council. The council advises the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the National Institutes of Health, and the director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) on matters relating to the conduct and support of research, training, health information dissemination, and other programs. In addition, council members respond to agency requests for special scientific reviews and public presentations.

Under the new leadership of David Schwartz, MD, NIEHS recently completed a comprehensive planning process that has resulted in the development of a new strategic plan. One of the goals of the plan is to expand the role of global environmental health in the environmental health sciences. Dr. Graziano has been invited to serve on the council because of his experience and expertise in the field and will be participating in an upcoming NIEHS workshop designed to establish objectives for global environmental health.
