Alianza Dominicana Honors Diana Taylor,
MPH '06, for Excellence in Corporate Responsibility

At its Inaugural Awards Gala celebrating more than 20 years of accomplishments, Alianza Dominicana honored Mailman School alumna Diana Taylor, MPH '06, for Excellence in Corporate Responsibility. Ms. Taylor, a member of the Mailman School's Board of Overseers, currently serves as the Superintendent of Banks for the State of New York, a position to which she was appointed three years ago by former New York State Governor George Pataki.

Founded in 1982, Alianza Dominicana strengthens communities and affirms the values of family life by partnering with youth, families, and both public and private institutions to revitalize economically distressed neighborhoods. In addition to celebrating two-plus decades of service, Alianza is regarded as the nation's most comprehensive Dominican community development and human services agency.

The gala was held on November 9, 2006 at the mid-town Hilton. Guests were welcomed to the sound of Clarinetes Magicos followed by a Conjunto Folkorico & Perico Ripiao performance. All money raised will help support a new building for Alianza near their current location in Washington Heights.

Welcoming remarks were made by Benny Lorenzo, chair of the Corporate Advisory Committee, and Alianza Dominicana President and CEO Moises Perez. The honorees included: Theodore Kheel, Oscar de la Renta, Diana Taylor, Lilian Rodriguez-Lopez, Herb Pardes, and Omar Minaya.
