William T. Friedewald Elected as a First Fellow in the Society of Clinical Trials

William T. Friedewald, MD, clinical professor of Biostatistics and Epidemiology, was recently elected as one of the first fellows of the Society of Clinical Trials. Created in 1978, the Society is an international professional organization dedicated to the development and dissemination of knowledge about the design, conduct and analysis of government and industry-sponsored clinical trials and related health care research methodologies.

Said Bruce Levin, PhD, professor and chair of the Department of Biostatistics, “This is a wonderful honor for Bill, recognizing his many years of dedicated service in NIH and elsewhere. Through his ongoing work, Bill has furthered the science and good practice of randomized clinical trials.”
