Mailman School has rolled out its new logo, which builds on the visual identity that the School developed in 2001, while addressing the CUMC branding initiative.

Most of the policies and procedures for using the School's logo remain the same, so we're hoping that the transition will be relatively smooth. We also ask that faculty and staff please discard any jpg and eps files and templates that you may have with the School's previous logo (and ask your consultants and vendors to do the same). The resources that have been developed to help with implementation are outlined below.

Please do not hesitate to contact anyone in the Office of Communications should you have additional questions. Many thanks for your continued efforts to help us build the Mailman School name.

Logo files and logo standards manual
Our new identity standards manual can be found at http://www.mailman.hs.columbia.edu/identitystandards.pdf
It is extremely important that everyone follows the new standards and templates when generating any materials for your department, center, or program. Please be sure that any temporary staff, consultants, graduate students, vendors or others are given the appropriate instructions and our logo standards manual before beginning work on any materials generation. We also ask that faculty and staff please discard any jpg or eps files you may have with our old logo (and ask your vendors to do the same).

As in the past, if you need an electronic file of our logo for any project, please contact Anne Foulke in the Office of Communications. Please let her know what file you need (refer to the choices in the standards manual) and which file format (eps or jpg).

Stationery materials
As in the past, all new Mailman School stationery materials (business cards, letterhead, envelopes, labels, and buck slips/pads) can be ordered through University Printing Services online system or by calling 854-3233.

No one needs to discard quantities of existing materials. You may continue to use your existing supplies of materials, but we'd like everyone to be fully switched over to the new logo by July 1, 2005. Please contact the Office of Communications with any special situations.

Please note that the paper we are using for the letterhead has not changed, so if you have supplies of second-sheet, you can keep using it with the new letterhead.

PowerPoint and letterhead Word templates
The School's PowerPoint template has been redesigned and is available by clicking here. Note: If you are using Internet Explorer, please save the PowerPoint file to your desktop before opening it.

Because electronic communication is an important part of how we send correspondence these days, we have developed a Word letterhead template for people at the School to use when sending our letterhead via email, however, these Word templates should not be printed from personal computers and used in place of formal, printed letterhead. In order to maintain a level of consistency and professionalism across the School, it is important to have letterhead that was made to a certain set of standards-paper and exact colors and fonts (which can vary depending on people's personal computers and printers). Our logo is now one color, which will help to save a considerable amount on the price of printing letterhead through University Printing Services. Please click here for the Word letterhead template. Note: If you are using Internet Explorer, please save the Word file to your desktop before opening it.

Folders
As in the past, the Office of Communications has ordered Mailman School folders in bulk so as to reduce the price per piece. Folders can be ordered in groups of 50 by contacting Anne Foulke in the Office of Communications and providing an account number.
