Amory, M.D. Surgical Director, Allen Surgical Associates PROCEDURES PERFORMED AT THE ALLEN PAVILION INCLUDE: Gastrointestinal Surgery Allen Surgical Associates specializes in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal disease and in surgical (open or minimal access) treatment: Endoscopic procedures (upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, or sigmoidoscopy), available on-site at the Allen Pavilion, are used to diagnose a wide variety of problems, including esophageal reflux disease (Barrett's esophagus); stomach cancer; and disorders of the colon and rectum, including polyps, colitis, Crohn's disease, and intestinal cancers. Laparoscopic (minimal access) surgery is available for the surgical treatment of most abdominal disorders, including hernias, and conditions of the stomach, intestines, gallbladder, and spleen. Head & Neck Surgery Physicians of Columbia-Presbyterian's Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgical Program also practice at the Allen Pavilion, where they diagnose and treat disorders of the head and neck, including: Thyroid disease Parathyroid disease Disorders of the lymph node system Disorders of the adrenal and salivary glands Breast Surgery Working in conjunction with the Columbia-Presbyterian Comprehensive Breast Center, Allen Surgical Associates includes clinicians who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease.
