The Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation is a multidisciplinary
treatment center offering comprehensive medical, surgical and
radiologic therapy for disorders of the biliary system in both
adults and children.
The Center is the newest division of Columbia-Presbyterians Department
of Surgery and the culmination of a joint investment between the
Department and New York Presbyterian Hospital. |

A team of outstanding clinical professionals has been recruited
for the new Center. |
|
Fulfilling their joint vision of a comprehensive liver treatment
center, Drs. Jean C. Emond and Robert S. Brown, Jr., have renewed
their past clinical association by becoming co-directors of the
Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation. |
|
The CLDT was fully approved as a liver transplant center in July
1997 after extensive review and consideration by the New York
State Department of Health. Statistics complied already compare
favorably to established programs elsewhere. |
|
A strong background for a new program is provided by New York
Presbyterian Hospital and the research expertise of two world
renowned medical teaching institutions. |
|
The CLDT's innovative clinical procedures and outcomes analyses
are supported by Columbia and Cornell Universities, the premier
teaching institutions that sponsor the Center's ongoing clincal
and scientific research. |
