Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation
Message from the Co-Directors
Dear Colleague,

This year marks the birth of a landmark multidisciplinary, multi-site liver transplantation program made possible by the merger of New York Hospital and The Presbyterian Hospital.  Our new Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation is focused on the seamless integration of medicine and surgery in its commitment to patient care, clinical innovation and scientific progress in the treatment and cure of adult and pediatric liver disease.

The creation of this program is made possible by significant financial investment by New York Presbyterian Hospital to enable

  • Recruitment and development of nationally recognized team leaders and support clinicians, nursing and paraprofessional staff in the OR and patient care units
  • Equipment upgrades for the operating theaters, blood bank and laboratories
  • Creation of dedicated facilities for the Center

The Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation offers comprehensive, integrated treatment of hepatobiliary disease, providing all services from ambulatory care to transplantation.  Fostering a partnership of medicine and surgery is the definitive focus of our program.  Through the Center, patients receive innovative care close to home, with ready access to high-tech inpatient facilities at New York-Cornell, Columbia-Presbyterian and Babies & Children’s Hospital of New York, supplemented by several regional liver centers headed by gastroenterologists with specific expertise in the treatment of liver disease.

We anticipate rapid growth and expansion of the program in the coming months and years.  Long-term plans include the development of a system-wide liver disease treatment program encompassing the entire New York Presbyterian Healthcare Network.

On behalf of the entire team of dedicated clinicians and support staff at the Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation, we welcome your inquiries and look forward to partnering with you to bring unequaled care to your patients suffering from liver disease.
