A letter from the Chairman... The J. Bentley Squier Urologic Clinic at New York Presbyterian Hospital (NYPH) - Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) was founded in 1928 and is one of the oldest and most accomplished Department of Urology programs in the nation. The goal of our Department is to provide unsurpassed excellence in patient care, research and residency and fellowship training. This year, NYPH ranked as the number one Urology program in New York and among the top five in the nation in the US News and World Report review. Our faculty are internationally recognized experts in the fields of Urologic Oncology, BPH (benign prostate enlargement), NeuroUrology/Urodynamics (bladder disorders), Female Urology, Pediatric Urology, Urolithiasis (stone disease), Reconstructive Surgery, Male and Female Sexual Dysfunction, Male Infertility and Minimally Invasive Surgery.
Our minimally invasive surgery program permeates all of the above disciplines and allows us to treat prostate cancer, kidney cancer and many pediatric urology conditions through small cosmetic incisions without compromising cure or outcome. We have extensive experience in laparoscopic robotic prostate surgery and our faculty have been responsible for developing the techniques and instrumentation that allows for laparoscopic removal of either the entire kidney or portions of the kidney (partial nephrectomy) for the treatment of kidney tumors.
The Department of Urology at Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) is comprised of its adult services at the Milstein Hospital Pavilion and our community hospital The Allen Pavilion in northern Manhattan and The Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York (CHONY).
