Overview

The urology residency at The Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC)
is currently a five year program starting with one year of general surgery
internship and four years of clinical urology. The latter consists of rotations at the main hospital at CUMC and the following affiliated hospitals: The Allen Pavilion, St. Luke's and Roosevelt Hospitals , and Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York .

The rotation schedule is divided, in general, into 4 months blocks. In total, each resident completes 16 months as a chief resident on an adult urology service and 4 months chief residency in pediatric urology.

Matching in the urology program at CUMC includes a surgical internship in the Department of Surgery at CUMC. In addition to learning both basic surgical skills and patient care, each intern rotates on the general adult urology service at CUMC for one or two months, providing exposure to clinical urology. The ERAS application for urology suffices for both urology and surgery.
