The Department of Urology at Columbia University is committed to providing a high quality resident education program in adult and pediatric urology.

The goals of the program are as follows:

  • Graduation of specialized physicians with a comprehensive knowledge of up-to-date adult and
    pediatric urology
  • Graduation of specialized physicians with excellent practical skills in all aspects of urologic practice including: in-patient and out-patient care; diagnosis; decision making; medical, endoscopic and surgical treatment; prognosis recognition; complication management; medico-economic management
  • Graduation of specialized physicians capable of continuous education and acquisition of future developments in technology and procedures
  • Graduation of specialized physicians capable of pursuing urology board certification
  • Graduation of urologists interested in pursuing academically oriented careers
  • Promotion of basic science and clinical science in urology
  • Involvement of residents in contemporary urologic research
