Manuel Campos, M.D., M.P.H., is currently medical assistant for INPARRES-Instituto Peruano de Paternidad Responsable. He is pleased to be receiving copies of our newsletter which he finds very useful in his family planning programs.

1954

Dr. Allen D. Spiegel, State

University of New York Health Science Center, Brooklyn, College of Medicine, and professor, Preventive Medicine and Community Health, is researching medical history and recent publications. He is currently authoring "Risk Management for Health Care Institutions: A Strategic Approach", to be published this year by Jones and Bartlett.

1957

William D. Thompson, FACHE, Chief Executive Officer and president of Underwood-Memorial Hospital in Woodbury, NJ will retire in August, after 36 years in this position. Bill is the longest-tenured CEO in the State of New Jersey and, by his own admission, has done just about everything he had hoped to do when he started at Underwood. Congratulations, Bill, and best wishes for a fulfilling retirement.

1959

"Kitty" Macdonald Ernst now resides in Perkiomenville, PA where she established the first distance learning program for nurses to become certified nurse-midwives for Frontier Nursing Service/Case Western Reserve University Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing. Her major awards include: Maternity Center Medal, ACNM Hattie Hemschemeyer Award and APHA Martha Mae Elliott Award.

1961

Steven Henning Sieverts has crossed the Atlantic with his English wife, Barbara, and now calls London home. Currently the CEO of a start-up managed care plan in London, England he looks forward to receiving CSPH publications.

1967

Holger Hansen, M.D., Dr.P.H., FACHE, has been elected to the board of directors of the Association of Teachers of Preventive Medicine. He was appointed to the program committee for the 1995 national preventive medicine meeting and will continue in the role for Prevention '96. Dr. Hansen is professor of community medicine and health care at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, serving as director of the university's graduate program in public health and as interim department head.

Dr. Leonard A. Levy is now president, California College of Podiatric Medicine, and resides in San Francisco, CA. He sends best wishes to his colleagues back east.

1968

Arthur Hazlewood, D.D.S., M.P.H., member of the executive board of the Alumni Association, recently has received a number of new appointments. He completed his term as president of the

American Association of Hospital Dentists and was elected chairman of the board of governors of the same organization. He was elected a member of the executive committee of the New York section of the American College of Dentists and was also nominated to a three year term on the advisory committee of the Commission on Accreditation of the American Dental Association. In addition he received the Physician of the Year award at the 12th Annual Ball of Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.

Dorothy S. Lane, M.D., M.P.H.,writes that she is enjoying her position as associate dean for continuing medical education and professor of Preventive Medicine at the School of Medicine, State University of New York at Stony Brook. She is also president of the Association of Teachers of Preventive Medicine, secretary-treasurer of the board of regents of the American College of Preventive Medicine and a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Board of Preventive Medicine. At Stony Brook, Lane is also the program director for their residency in General Preventive Medicine and Public Health, whose residents obtain their MPH from the Columbia School of Public Health.

1972

Steven C. Becker, Hospital Administration, is pleased to report that he has joined the planning division of Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow, New York as an assistant hospital administrator. Best of luck in your new endeavor.

Donald Patrick, Ph.D., recently won election to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences. We join in congratulating him on this achievement

S. Jaime Rozovski, Ph.D., M.S., has been appointed director of the Master of Science program in nutrition at the School of Medicine of the Catholic University of Chile in Santiago.

1976

Jody A. Storch is married to Jerry Green, M.D., and they live with their two children in Danbury, Connecticut. She is doing independent consulting on clinical reasearch trials.

Bernard Zazula, M.D., was installed as president of the Medical Society of the County of Queens in New York.

1977

Anne LaGrange Loving, M.S., has been published in several national and international papers including USA Today, The New York Times, The London Church Times and Health Magazine for her work, "A Controlled Study on Intinction: A safer alternative method for receiving Holy Communion." In addition, the story has been broadcast on several radio and television stations nationwide. She is assistant professor of microbiology at Felician College in Lodi, New Jersey.

Regina (Reggie) Yoskowitz recently became a partner in Foley/Proctor/Yoskowitz Associates in Morristown, New Jersey. Thomas Foley, Hospital Administration '72, is senior partner in this healthcare consulting and executive search firm. Reggie is the mother of three children, ages 10-16.

1978

Mary Lou Solliday is currently an infection control coordinator at Rivington House Health Care Facility, a long term care facility for AIDS patients. This 219 bed facility also has a unit for tuberculosis patients. She lives in Centerport, New York.

1979

Bart K. Holland, M.P.H., obtained the Ph.D. from Princeton. He is a professor at New Jersey Medical School and won the University's Distinguished Teaching Award. He has a book contract for Evaluating Ancient and Medieval Medicines, to be published this year.

1980

Joan A. Camera, director of clinical operations at the David B. Kriser Dental Center, has been appointed to the State Hospital Review and Planning Council by New York Governor George Pataki. Her term will run through 1998. She is a diplomate of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on the Regent's Advisory Council for New York, Area D. In addition, she is immediate past president of the Healthcare Executives Club of New York and a certified member of the Association of Mental Health Administrators. In 1993, she was named to New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani's Health Care Policy Advisory Group and served as co-chairperson of its Mental Health Work Group. She resides in Port Washington, New York.

Katherine B. Frantz would like to hear from colleagues with whom she's lost contact. She's a psychiatrist in Philadelphia and her career interest remains brain development.

1982

Odette Batik, M.D., M.P.H., is a family physician providing primary care to an indigent population in Seattle, Washington. She finds her work very fulfilling and challenging.

1983

Dana C. Hughes, Dr.P.H., senior policy analyst for the University of California at San Francisco Institute for Health Policy Studies, has been named a 1995 fellow of the W. K. Kellogg Foundation. She will study ways that public schools can meet the challenge of increasingly complex social and educational issues. She conducts policy research on health issues related to low-income and other vulnerable children. She also teaches at the Universtiy of California Berkeley School of Public Health.

Joyce M. Morin, M.P.H., recently received the American College of Health Care Executives Regent's Early Career Healthcare Executive Award.

1985

William E. Allen, M.P.H., and his wife welcomed a daughter, Mackenzie, who joins brothers Austin and Connor. Dad has been director of facility administration and materials management at New Jersey Dental School since June of 1991. Rickey Wilson, M.D., M.S., J.D., was recently appointed vice president, worldwide pharmaceutical regulatory affairs at the Upjohn Company in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Upjohn Company is an international research-based provider of human health care products, animal health products and specialty chemicals.

1990

Linda S. Klein, M.P.H., has formed Creative Education Associates, which designs and produces innovative patient-focused healthcare education programs for the pharmaceutical and managed care industry. The Analogy Book (a teaching tool designed to teach patients and families about difficult concepts in cancer and its treatment) won the Silver Award at the 1994 Medical Marketing International Awards.

1992

Dana M. Frazer, M.P.H., currently is a third-year medical student at Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. She will receive the M.D. degree in June.

Gorm Kirsch, M.P.H., has begun the M.A. program at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. He is studying international economics and international environment, science and technology policy. He writes that now that he is living in Washington, DC he is in contact with Amy Walsh '92, Ph.D. candidate, who is also living in Washington, D.C. with her husband, Jim Sullivan.

Andi L. Shane, M.P.H., is a medical student at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans.

1993

Keith Sabin, M.P.H., has finished the first year of study in anticipation of the Ph.D. He received a Fulbright Fellowship to study sexually transmitted diseases in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Keith and his wife welcomed a new son, Joseph Benjamin, last fall.

1995

Chris Coles, M.P.H., former director of public information and CHRONICLE contributor during his student days at CSPH, is now pursuing the Ph.D. at Johns Hopkins. On a recent break from studies, he reports that he vacationed on the west coast and driving down the California coastline witnessed spectacular sunsets and dramatic sunrises.
