    The Atlantic Monthly cover story, “The AIDS Exception: Privacy vs. Public Health,” quotes Sociomedical Sciences’ ethicist Ronald Bayer, Ph.D.

October 27, 1997

    ABC’s Good Morning America features Sociomedical Sciences Cheryl Healton, Dr.P.H., speaking against CDC’s recommendation to mandate reporting of AIDS cases.

December 12, 1997

    National Public Radio airs a commentary on MetroPlus HMO by Health Policy’s Sam Davis.

December 23, 1997

    The New York Times Science Section publishes “For Doctors, Years of Grief and Daring,” excerpts from Sociomedical Sciences Ronald Bayer’s and colleague Gerald Oppenheimer’s forthcoming book which draws on oral histories of AIDS doctors.

February 19, 1998

    Washington Post, page one article, “ Too Many Babies, Too Many Barriers,” extensively quotes Population and Family Health’s Andrew Davidson on sterilization.

March, 1998

    Newsweek-Kaplan Guide to Careers and Graduate Schools article, “Shifting Careers...” features Population and Family Health student Pam Barnes, who left a business career to pursue an MPH and is now in the Peace Corps.

March 3, 1998

    The New York Times Personal Health column, “Depressed Parent’s Children at Risk,” discusses the topic with Epidemiology’s Myrna Weissman, Ph.D., and cites her ground-breaking 10-year study report she prepared with colleagues, published last fall in the Archives of General Psychiatry.

March 31, 1997

    The New York Times Special Health Care Supplement features Health Policy’s Larry Brown, Ph.D., on the history of managed care.
