Faculty NewsFirst Public Health Award to Susan Wilt
Susan A. Wilt, Dr.P.H., CSPH,85, director, epidemiology and surveillance, injury Prevention Program, New York City Department of Health (NYCDOH), was honored on Wednesday, April 8, 1998, for her contributions to advance the field of violence prevention and her commitment to the health of the people of New York City. Dr. Wilt, an expert on violence and patterns of assault, injury and death, particularly femicide, in New York City, was the recipient of the first annual Public Health Achievement Award given by NYCDOH and Columbia School of Public Health (CSPH) in celebration of National Public Health Week, April 6-12, 1998. Neal L. Cohen, M.D., commissioner, NYCDOH, and Allan Rosenfield, M.D., Dean, CSPH, made the joint presentation. Each year during National Public Health Week, NYCDOH and CSPH will recognize an individuals leadership and dedication to public health, vision of the purpose and beneficence of public health practice, unique achievements and contribution to advance the field of public health and unwavering commitment to the people of the City of New York. The individual must work for the NYCDOH and have a CSPH affiliation as alumnus or member of the faculty. Back to Faculty News |
