“Giving Well” Promotes Planned Giving to School of Public Health

Q: What is “Giving Well?”

A: “Giving Well” is our planned gifts program, through which we can assist you to make gifts to CSPH . We can help you to consider the tax, financial, and estate implications of your gift, and assist you and your advisors to select the amount and type of giving that will best accomplish your charitable goals.

Q: What types of gifts can I make?

A: Gifts of appreciated securities, real estate, appreciated property, closely-held stock, gifts in trust, life income gifts, and those you create through a provision in your will are some examples. Each of these ways of giving offers different advantages, and we can help you determine which is best for you.

Q: What kinds of advantages can a planned gift to CSPH provide for me?

A: Gifts to CSPH are tax-deductible, of course. The type of property you give, how long you have held it, and whether you give outright, through a trust, or in your will, can determine the type and amount of that tax deduction.

Q: Are there any additional benefits?

A: Yes. for example, a life income gift, such as a charitable gift annuity, a pooled income fund contribution or a gift in trust not only can provide you with a tax deduction, it will also pay lifetime income to you or to those you name. A gift in your will, a bequest, may help to reduce estate taxes and can even establish a trust to benefit your heirs.

Q: How can you help us to plan a gift?

A: Our director of planned giving can discuss with you the type of gift you would like to fund, where you would like your gift directed, and suggest a way to give that will also benefit you. We can provide you and your advisors with illustrations, information and support to help you to give well...and wisely.

Q: How can I make certain that I maximize the benefits of “Giving Well?”

A: Speak with us or have your tax or legal advisor speak with us. We may present some ideas and options that you had not yet considered.
