Expert in Targeted Radiotherapy to Lead Radiation Oncology

K.S. Clifford Chao, MD, renowned for his skill in using image-guided targeted radiotherapy and intensity modulated radiation therapy for the treatment of head and neck cancer and other cancers, has joined CUMC as director of the Combined Program in Radiation Oncology at CUMC, Weill Cornell Medical College and NYPH. Dr. Chao was the director of Image-Guided Therapy of Radiation Oncology at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Dr. Chao also is chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at P&S, and chief of the Division of Radiation Oncology at Weill Cornell, where Dattatreyudu Nori, MD is executive vice chief. Dr. Chao is radiation oncologist-in-chief at NYPH and a member of the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center.
In addition, Dr. Chao has supervisory responsibility for the Department of Radiation Oncology at New York Hospital Queens, where Dr. Nori is chairman. New York Hospital Queens is an affiliate of Weill Cornell and a member of the NYP Healthcare System.
Philip O. Alderson, MD, the James Picker Professor and chairman of the Department of Radiology in P&S and radiologist-in-chief at NYPH/Columbia served as interim chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology at P&S. He is the new dean of Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
