Health Initiative Second Phase Begins

There were three randomly selected grand prize winners in a raffle for those who participated in the online health risk assessment last spring. Jeremy Shatan (right), special events project officer for the "Hope and Heros" Children's Cancer Fund in the Department of Pediatrics won first prize of a year's membership to the Bard Athletic Center and Daniel Rosen, M.D. (left), adjunct assistant professor of rehabilitation medicine won the second place prize of an IPOD Mini. Not pictured is third place winner Thomas King, M.D., Jose Ferrer Professor Emeritus Surgery who won an Amex gift certificate.

The next phase of Columbia's Health Initiative begins in January. Dubbed Take the Challenge, this phase will encourage employees to make certain healthier lifestyle changes. The three challenges include: 10,000 Steps for Health; Know Your Numbers and Healthy Breakfasts. The first phase of the health initiative last spring invited employees to complete an online health risk assessment.
