Audubon Nightlife: Jazz, Dancing, and BBQ
The Audubon Bar & Grill opened its doors to the Health Sciences and Washington Heights communities in March 1996. Since then, a number of fun and lively additions have been made to the restaurant's bill of fare.
The Audubon Bar & Grill offers Monday Night Jazz from 8 to midnight, with the Jean-Michel Pilc Trio currently headlining. There is no cover charge. Latin Night is both Friday and Saturday from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. "The place turns into a nightclub," says Katie Gardner, co-owner. On Latin Nights, the floor is cleared of tables for dancing to disco and salsa provided by a DJ along with a light show. "We call it Club Audubon," says Ms. Gardner.
On a daily basis, from 4 to 7 p.m. there's Happy Hour and an early bird special, which offers a full-course dinner with dessert for $8.95. On the weekends, the menu features brunch items. Coming soon, BBQ ribs and chicken "made the old-fashioned way" will be available at the Audubon Bar & Grill and at Taco Madre next door.
The Audubon Bar & Grill is located in the Mary Lasker Building at Broadway and 166th Street, phone 928-5200. Hours are 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. weekdays, and 11 a.m. to 4 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. A catering service is also available.
