Columbia's Mission to Colombia
The Who and the How
This year's mission to Colombia was made possible by volunteers who paid their own travel expenses, contributed to the in-country costs, and gathered supplies for the trip. Dr. Steven Roser, professor of clinical dental and oral surgery, was joined by Dr. Jeffrey Ascherman, P&S instructor in clinical surgery and director of pediatric plastic surgery; Dr. Amy Jonasson, attending anesthesiologist at CPMC; Dr. Andrea Schreiber, assistant professor of clinical dental and oral surgery; Dr. Chris Bonacci and Dr. Eric Swanson, residents in oral and maxillofacial surgery; Dr. James Brady, resident in plastic surgery; Dr. Carmen Dominguez, Dr. Sara Kaus, and Dr. Oswald Jules, former CPMC residents in anesthesiology; Dr. Stephanie Goodman and Dr. Robert Gross, residents in anesthesiology; Marc Bienstock and Toby Feldman, senior dental students; Laura Flanagan, M.S.N. and R.N. at CPMC; Susan Roser, R.N., CPRSN; and William Everett, Dr. Goodman's husband.
Everything for treating patients was purchased by the team members or donated. Benefactors were the Presbyterian Hospital, Walter Lorenz Company, KLS Surgical Instruments, Leibinger Instruments, Zimmer Company, Baxter Corporation, U.S. Surgical Company, and Henry Schein Company.
