The 1997 Dean's Award for Distinguished Service was presented to long-time CPMC supporters Richard and Rakia Hatch. Dr. Herbert Pardes, vice president and dean, presented the award at the April Columbia-Presbyterian Health Sciences Advisory Council meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Hatch have endowed three named professorships at P&S and were instrumental in the establishment of a fourth chair. They also created the Hatch Young Investigators Fund for Cardiovascular Training, the Hatch Magnetic Resonance Imaging Center, a scholarship endowment for the School of Nursing, and a program in breast cancer research. They are both involved full time in philanthropy. Shown above are, from left, Mr. Hatch, Dr. Pardes, Mrs. Hatch, and Columbia President George Rupp.
