Some of the nearly 1,000 CPMC members who made up last year's winning team in the New York Race for the Cure outside Tavern on the Green in Central Park.
Last year, for the third consecutive year, CPMC was first-place winner for team enrollment in the New York Race for the Cure. This year's race is approaching--Sunday, Sept. 14, in Central Park. A total team enrollment of 958 was tallied for the 1996 race.

The Race for the Cure is a women's run-walk held every September in cities across the United States to increase awareness of breast cancer and raise money for research and treatment. CPMC was awarded $10,000 in prize money for its winning team. That money was used to fund participation in the citywide breast cancer awareness program, First Saturday in October, which provides free breast cancer screenings and education to medically underserved women.

More information on participation in the Race for the Cure can be obtained by calling co-captains Marie Wallace and Joan Penn at 305-5587 (ext. 75587).
