University Statutory Certificate

Rachel Deutsch, Student, Adult Nurse Practitioner

Rachel Deutsch has a BA in international political economy from Colorado College, where she was awarded for exceptional scholarship in political science. She was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and, after graduation, joined Americorps, where she was the pediatric literacy program coordinator for Reach Out and Read and a health educator for tobacco cessation. Rachel decided to pursue health care while living in rural Ghana, when her best friend was stricken with malaria. She plans to become an adult nurse practitioner and hopes to reduce health disparities by working with underserved communities. At Columbia, she volunteers with CoSMO and the CORNER Project, a Washington Heights syringe exchange initiative.

University Statutory Certificates, which carry master's level credit equivalence, are available to nurses with master's degrees in nursing who wish an additional specialization without completing an additional master's degree. Please contact the Office of Admissions for specific requirements.
